The International Center for Integrated Water Resources Management (ICIWaRM): new opportunities for scientists, engineers, managers, and planners to engage with UNESCO

We have just received a new article about ICIWaRM, the International Center for Integrated Water Resources Management, which operates under the auspices of UNESCO. It is written by Robert A. Pietrowsky, Eugene Z. Stakhiv, and William S. Logan, USACE Institute for Water Resources.

Category I and II centers are at the heart of UNESCO IHP’s mission and goals, and play an especially key role in training, technology transfer, and capacity-building. They have enormous potential for bridging the gap between research in water science, technology, planning, and management and the practical implementation of these advances. This article in the May 2011 issue of IMPACT, the magazine of the American Water Resources Association (AWRA) states that ICIWaRM’s strength is its network, which includes AWRA leadership and membership. Together we can pool resources, both financial and especially human. Further exploration of collaboration activities is both welcome and essential.
